The Full Story

Flow Space was created from a deep love for the arts and a commitment to community.

More than a gallery, Flow Space is a community-rooted art space dedicated to showcasing the powerful, personal, and political works of artists who may exist outside traditional structures of recognition, self-taught visionaries, and those forging paths on their own terms. With a particular focus on supporting women-identifying and LGBTQIA+ artists, Flow Space seeks to make room for those too often overlooked and to affirm the importance of their voices.

Flow Space extends beyond the confines of visual art, aiming to be a platform for lived experience, storytelling, and unapologetic self-expression in all its forms. Here, there is no expectation to explain or conform. We believe in art without censorship, identity without compromise, and community without judgment.

About the Founder

My name is Rachael McArthur, an artist, poet, and mother based in Brooklyn, New York. I am the founder of Flow Space Gallery, a creative platform built to empower artists to fully represent themselves and their work.

After years of navigating spaces where I had little control over how my art was presented, often facing censorship and a lack of representation. I felt a deep need to create something different. Flow Space emerged from that need: a space dedicated to artists whose work is bold, authentic, and rooted in personal experience.

At Flow Space, we believe in the power of creative freedom. Artists should be able to express their identities, sexuality, and lives without compromise. This gallery exists to uplift those voices and celebrate work that challenges norms and inspires new perspectives.

As a working artist and mother, I understand the importance of visibility, connection, and support. Flow Space is more than a gallery, it’s a community hub. Artists, creators, and poets are encouraged to reach out to propose classes, lectures, events, and collaborations. This is a space to be seen, heard, and supported.

Flow Space has been a vision years in the making, and I’m thrilled to finally share it. We have an exciting lineup of events, exhibitions, and opportunities on the horizon and this is just the beginning.
