There are many doors to open under the roof that is BDSM, where subcultures are able to grow around like-minded people and find a safe space for their kinky interests. Born from what began as a punishment, pup play (human-animal roleplay) was the act of stripping away the human form and applying animal characteristics to oneself (or another) and letting a more primal headspace and set of behaviors come to the fore. However, it wasn’t long before this “punishment” created
a fertile field for the pup personas to come to life and flourish while allowing the concerns of the outside world fall away.

A Wild Pack of Dogs presents the human-animal roleplay subculture to an audience in a visual way that is designed to inform, but also to inspire interest in and respect for the subjects. By showing the dichotomy between the dehumanizing aspect of its trappings and practices and the humanity of its subjects, we ultimately reveal something deeper about those involved.
